JNRC had a successful winter craft class where all sorts of creativity was flowing from the residents.

The craft class brought smiles out and a great exchange of ideas from everyone.

From flower arrangements to sock snow-men to games and laughter.

We're so thankful for our Neighbors...

Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has been providing a free Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings to residents, families, and guest for over 10 years now. It started when Executive Director, Terrie Weible took over the facility in 1997. Mrs. Weible and her staff feel this is most special gift they can provide their residents with. The gift to be with their families on a holiday such as Thanksgiving. Department managers, including Mrs. Weible, volunteer their time each year to serve this enormous feast. The time is volunteer on a rotating basis so that each (dept. manager) is not here every year, but every third. This happens for all except for their beloved Dietary Supervisor, Kay Powell who unselfishly gives her time every year for those who RSVP. According to Kay, she has been at JNRC for 9 years now and her first Thanksgiving here she served 30 guests along with the residents  in house. MY HOW IT HAS GROWN!

jhc_thanksgiving2009aAmong the volunteers were Ron Geisler and his family, who gave up their Thanksgiving day to help make this day possible. Ron's mother was a resident here several years ago, he still volunteers when he can. Many thanks to him and his family.

Many family members were very appreciative of this act of kindness. In fact, Sharon Wild, family of the Phillip/Voumard party stated, "Everything was very nice, the food is wonderful and I don't know how you do it all". Mr. Phillips, husband of resident Alta Phillips stated "I would like to tell everyone that the food here is this good everyday, I should know I eat here EVERYDAY". And last Penny Meyer, daughter of resident Henry Heitzig says, "Thank you, you people make this a wonderful day".

In all, the total people fed during the day shift alone, was over 150+. This number does not include the residents who weren't able to go out with their family members  and  20+ staff members working. Evening and Midnights shifts also receive a free meal for working this holiday. "It's our way of giving back, ans showing how thanksful we are that you choose us to be part of your families", states Terrie.

jhc_holiday2009JNRC & NW Rehab are participants in the Hometown Holiday Christmas Tree Decorating contest.  This contest is organized so that local businesses can come together and decorate a Christmans tree and proceeds go to a charity of their choice.  The theme for JNRC and NW Rehab's tree for 2009 is "It's Raining Cats and Dogs".

jhc_mark_aliOn October 21st, 2009, Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center hosted a Physician Appreciation Dinner held at E.F. Carpenters.

The physicians in the community, along with their spouses had the pleasure to dine and visit with each other during this event.

Wellington Management's Director of Operations, Mark Weible, introduced our speaker of the event, Dr. Ali who is part of the Medical Team at one of our sister facilities in St. Louis, the Pillars of North County.

Dr. Ali, is Board Certified in Geriatrics from Missouri and the topic he discussed was the H1N1 and how it is affecting the elderly. It was our honor to host such a successful event.

jhc_communityWe also had a chance to attend and support a Vendor Fair at St. Anthony's hospital in Alton.
