The Pillars of North County Health & Rehabilitation Center would like to extend our warmest Congratulations to Phyllis Thomas, Housekeeping Supervisor!!

On December 4, 2009, Ms. Thomas was awarded the 2009 Caregiver of the Year Award at the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program of St. Louis; 15th Annual Quality of Life Caregiver Awards.  Master of Ceremonies Shirley Washington, news anchor at St. Louis’ KTVI/Fox 2 News, presented Ms. Thomas with a personalized crystal plaque and certificate in honor of her achievement.

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program of St. Louis serves St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, St. Charles County, and 16 additional counties in Northeast Missouri.

pillars_-_phyllis_thomas_award_2009_3_croppedPhyllis has been the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor at The Pillars of North County for three years, and has over 20 years’ experience in Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing Facilities.

Phyllis was nominated by Dotty Blank, RN, Ph.D, Director of Nursing, and Alicia Oakley, BA/LNHA, Administrator, who commented:

“Phyllis lead by example, and pushes her staff to personally care for our residents as much as she does.  Her staff has collectively become more caring, more outgoing and friendly, more interactive with our residents, and happy to help other departments to give our residents the best home possible.  When our residents are happy, the smile on Phyllis’ face lights up the nursing home!”

The management team at The Pillars of North County would also like to commend the entire Housekeeping and Laundry Services staff for going the extra mile in fulfilling our residents’ individual needs, helping our residents to maintain their best possible functioning, daily personal preferences, and their dignity.  Many times, these special touches go well beyond mere housekeeping and laundry work.
