On Wednesday Apri 8th, 2009 Westwood Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center was visited by a group of first graders from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Poplar Bluff.

The activity department had hundreds of eggs filled with candy and hidden all over the facility grounds.

The residents came outside and watched as the kids hunted their Easter eggs!

On February 13th, 2009 Westwood Hills celebrated Valentine's Day with a big party for the residents.

This gathering is always looked forward to by all because the residents and staff have a such a great time.  Everyone got together in the dining room to listen to music and have snacks.

There was a live performance by Lee & Larry Hufford, who are local favorites and frequent visitors to the facility.  Westwood Hills crowned their 2009 Valentine King & Queen during this festivity.

Our lovely Queen was Eathel Scott, and our striking King was Gene Worley.  A very big thank you goes out to the activities department for throwing such a great Valentine's bash!

On Tuesday January 27th, 2009 Poplar Bluff, Missouri woke up to an icy winter wonderland.  Many homes and businesses were left without electricity and water, but Westwood Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center is equipped with a back-up generator that kept the electricity pumping through this entire winter storm.

We were well prepared for this storm, manning our generator and stocking up on bottled water and lots of food.  All of our staff really pulled together as well, getting to work any which whay they could (and it wasn't easy).

Our maintenance supervisor, Karl Littlel, took charge and provided rides to any staff that couldn't get out of their homes.  Westwood Hills also sheltered many of our staff and their families, providiing them with warm beds and hot meals.  A babysitter was made available to all the staff that needed to bring their children along with them to work.  We really made sure that our residents remained comfortable throughout the bad weather.

A big thank you goes out to all of our employees for putting the residents first, making it to work on time, and covering shifts when needed!  Westwood Hills has no problem with maintaining quality care even through an ice storm.
